pregnancy update

negative ghost rider, the belly is still full! i had my appointment yesterday and my blood pressure was a little high during the appointment, and she checked me and things are progressing. she wants me to keep taking my bp everyday and call her on wednesday and go into the hospital if it gets over a certain number. then robby asked her a question about the bp monitor i purchased, so we got it out and she took my bp again. then she said to go to the hospital right away and take some more tests and make sure everything is going ok. i asked her if i could go home and grab some stuff and she said no to go directly to the hospital.
...
so off we went. they ran some labs on my blood and urine and took my bp every 10-15 minutes. my bp was kinda all over the place, sometimes high and sometimes lower. but all the labs came back good (except i have another UTI .. ugh!!) so my doctor released me with the same instructions to keep track of my bp and call her on wednesday. my next appointment is scheduled for monday morning and she told me that she will probably induce me that day. so, still no baby, but most likely next monday we'll be having her (which i think is a good thing, 38 weeks is better than 37 weeks!!)
...
so now you know. and here are some pictures. nicole came up last weekend for a visit and took some pictures of our family, i think they turned out great

belly thoughts

here are some random thoughts about this pregnancy:
...
#2 likes to be on the right side on my belly, which often makes it lopsided! seriously ... if you push on the left side of my belly it is soft, and the right side is as hard as a rock.
...
i've gained 20 pounds so far, and the circumference of my waist is 38 inches (and growing).
...
my favorite compliment lately: "you don't look pregnant, except from the side" or "you can't tell you're pregnant from the back" ... meaning i've only gained weight in my belly (or that's how i take it anyways) i've been lucky enough to not gain any weight in my ankles or face or anything. i just have a little basketball under my shirt ... hehe!
...
#2 isn't much of a kicker ... she's more of a pusher, or a stretch and hold it kind of gal.
...
robby is still holding tightly to that 20% that it's a boy. he thinks the ultrasound technician was incompetent, and tells me if he starts laughing histerically in the delivery room ... then it's a boy.
...
i've had 2 UTIs so far ... luckily it never progressed to my kidneys like it did when i was pregnant with aidan -- THAT was painful, and i had to be on antibiotics for the remainder of my pregnancy.
...
i only threw up a total of 8 times!! huzzah!
...
aidan loves to hug and kiss my belly ... and try to stick pacifiers and cheerios into my belly button!!
...
i take 9 pills everyday: (1)iron (2)magnesium (3)calcium (4)fish oil (5+6)cranberry [for the UTI] (7)mega antioxidant (8)chelated minerals (9)tylenol
...
i had a doctors appointment on wednesday (9/10) and my doctor is REALLY concerned with my blood pressure, and i now have to take it twice a day (which meant i had to go out and purchase a blood pressure monitor). if my blood pressure is still high at my next appointment (monday 9/15), she'll want to deliver #2 that day. YIKES! keep me and baby #2 in your prayers!!

my bump

so ... i'm sure some of you are curious as to how i'm progressing ... so here's a picture of my bump. i had my hair and makeup all done for church on sunday (7/6/08 -- 27 weeks) so i made robby take a picture of me (much to his chagrin).
...
NOTICE: objects in picture are much bigger than they appear!! (my bump is bigger than this picture makes it out to look, or maybe it's just my perspective) maybe if i was holding the hem of my shirt tighter??

pregnancy update

so, everyone keeps asking me how i'm doing and how i'm feeling, etc. so here you go!
...
so far, so good. i haven't felt sick that much and have only barfed twice (once after speed walking a mile, while already not feeling so great -- not a good idea anyways (sorry kristi, one of these days i'll do it again!!); and once right after taking care of a barfing aidan)
...
i feel a little sick in the morning right when i wake up, but it usually goes away pretty fast once i start waking up. and sometimes i feel a little sick at night.
...
the thing that is driving me CRAZY is that my whole entire body itches. seriously, i rememeber being itchy when i was pregnant with aidan, but i don't rememeber it starting this soon. its really starting to bug me!
...
i've been having hot flashes, yikes!! i had these with aidan as well, so i was expecting them!
...
and so far i've actually LOST 4 pounds! hehe, which gives me full rights to eat this for dessert tonight!! (yum, a sliced banana, topped with 2 scoops of vanilla and covered in caramel syrup -- working at baskin robbins for 4 years has its benefits, i can still scoop up some yummy ice cream treats!!) you know you want some, i know i want more!!! this is my favorite part of being pregnant!
(if that was too much information for you, SORRY!!) come over and i'll scoop you some ice cream and make it up to you!

oops, i did it again!

well we went over to my folks house for superbowl. my mom always puts out a dang good spread of food. this year it included buffalo chicken bites and my sister made lumpia (loompia!!) i decided to make a fruit tart. i recently learned how to make it at a church cooking class and it was delicious!
...
here are some pictures of all the delicious food to make you jealous! loook, 4 kinds of chips (lays potato chips, sun chips, round mission tortillas, and spicy tortilla chips made from homemade tortialls --- SOOOOO good! plus guacamole and salsa for your dipping pleasure!

here you can see the deviled eggs (not the best they had sweet reish in them, who puts sweet relish in deviled eggs? apparently my grandmother!) then you can see the broccoli and cauliflower with dip. plus pretzels and onion dip (made from scratch!!) for my hubby his favorite snack food!

here is nicole making her lumpia!

here she is when she was all done, doesn't she look so proud? they were delicious! (hopefully she posts the recipe on her blog soon!)

here is nicole and my mom making the buffalo chicken bites, boy these were delicious and they went FAST!

my mom holding the finished bites before the boys came in a devoured this batch! great job mom, these were delcious!!

and here is my fruit tart, i'm sure i'll be posting the recipe soon, so stay tuned!

when i walked into my folk's house and set the tart on the table my grandma came up and said, "i heard you made something you've never made before" it took me a minute to register what she was talking about, "oh yeah," i replied "i made this fruit tart, i hope it turned out ok ..." and then i added "but i'm also making something i HAVE made before" she turns to me confused and asked me "what?" and then i fill her in on what i was talking about, "I'M PREGNANT AGAIN!"

what a great set-up!! oops, we did it again! we are now expecting lil baird #2. ahhhhhhhh! that's right ... i'm pregnant ... AGAIN! didn't i just do this? i'm not ready to do it again! oh sheesh! what in the world am i going to do with 2 kids. seriously, what in the world. i'm not ready for another one!

we had already told my parents and robby's mom. most of the reactions have been great, which is excellent. rob's mom said, "i thought you were going to wait" and "i thought you were on birth control" thanks for being excited for us mom! (sarcasm) my parent's jumped up and down (ok ... bounced in their seats while at breakfast) and clapped and said "yeaaaaaahhhh!" much better reaction!! while my oldest sister just cackled into the phone! nicole was throughly excited as we'll both we pregnant together and our little ones will only be like 2 months apart! i actually told her first because i was freaking out when i found out and she is always the voice of reason and sanity (i'm sure she'll say she is not and that is is anything but sane, but to me she is!!!) she calmed me down and got me excited! thanks nikki, you're the best sister in the entire world!!!

end of being pregnant

here is a picture of my pregnancy bump for all to see. soon it will be deflated. on wednesday january 31, 2007, i am checking into the hospital to be induced. it all came about yesterday when i went to my doctor's appointment, and she informed me that she was going to be out of town next week from monday through friday. as i was driving home i was thinking about "what if i go into labor while she's gone? then i just get some random on call doctor!" so i started freaking out a little bit. when i got home i called my doctor and asked her about inducing me. she talked with the hospital, and ... here we are ... they are going to induce me on wednesday night at 6pm. so by thursday i should have a little bundle of joy!! yeah! we are both really excited/scared/etc. so needless to say i probably wont be posting for a little bit. but i promise to get some pictures of him on here soon.

acceptable things to say

(lori, john and me with my baby bump)
...
before we get to the meat of the post, please stop by the following site:
http://www.baskinrobbins.com/IceCream/coupon/bogo_sundaes0107.html
its a coupon for buy one get one free sundaes at baskin robbins. mmmmm, my favorite.
...
you're welcome!
...
for all of you people who will ever interact with a pregnant woman, let this be a lesson on things that are NOT acceptable to say, and things are ARE acceptable to say.
...
ACCEPTABLE
1. Wow, you only have 4 more weeks left, you still look so tiny.
2. You have a cute little baby bump.
3. You are absolutely glowing/radiant/beautiful (etc.) today.
4. You are the cutest pregnant lady ever!
5. When I am preganant I hope I look as good as you look.
any variation of any of the above sentances.
...
NOT ACCEPTABLE
1. Wow, you're HUGE!
2. Are you sure you're not having twins.
3. You look like you're ready to pop any day now.
4. You still have 4 more weeks left, how can you get any bigger?
5. You are going to go into labor early, because that baby has to be about 10 pounds.
any variation of any of the above sentances.
...
yes people, i know i'm not having twins, there is this crazy contraption called a "sonogram" which shows a picture of the baby, if there were 2 we would have SEEN them.
...
no, i'm not "ready to pop". i still have 4 more weeks left, okay?
...
how would you like it if i pointed out how "huge" your nose is, or your double chin, or those nasty ankles? i'm pretty sure you already know you have a "huge" ____ and you don't need to be reminded. yes, i know that i'm pregnant and i have a bigger belly than usual, but i beg to differ and it is in NO WAY "huge!" so leave it alone, okay? (seriously is my bump *that* big?)
...
woman who are pregnant are already in a fragile state, please remember this and only say COMPLIMENTARY things, or don't say anything at all. i don't care how big/small you were when you were pregnant. i don't care how big/small i am compared to your friend/daughter/sister/mother. i don't care. and NO, you may not rub the tummy. okay? deal with it.
...
okay if you feel like reading something funny instead of a rant, head on over to scott adams' blog, although he does use the synonym for "donkey" like in every sentance. but it's histerical nonetheless.
