great customer service

all throughout my pregnancy with aidan i used burt's bees "thoroughly therapeutic honey and shea butter body butter" on my expanding belly. and when i got preggo with #2 i continued to use it. then one day when i opened it, this is what greeted me!! EWWW! the whole top was covered with mold ... so i scraped off the mold and stirred it up and smeared some on my belly. then the next time i tried to use it, there was mold growing all throughout the product. double ewww!
...
so i emailed the company. not really expecting anything, i just figured they should know.
...
i got a prompt reply, telling me to discontinue use of the product (DUH! like i would want to smear mold all over my growing belly) and then they asked me for my address to mail me a replacement and a gift.
...
the replacement got here last week, and the gift was a "head to toe starter kit" what a neat surprise. i wasn't expecting it.
i can't wait to try out these products. i LOVE burt's bees.

Yeah...there are downsides to using "natural" products at times. Great customer service story though! Enjoy the kit. The story reminded me of a certain lemon meringue pie story in Hendrickson folklore...

I LOVE Burt's Bees! All I use is the basic lip balm, it's the best ever. And thanks for all your comments, I am now going to be more blogging active.

Nice! You forget that sometimes the give and take, explain and listen scenario still actually works. Enjoy!

I love BB too, but I've heard of this sort of thing happening to other people. I guess if its all natural, that can mean no preservatives to make it not get moldy.

Glad they made it up to you!

that's pretty awesome! I mean about them replacing it.....not awesome about the mold. I used their butt cream for both of my kids. works better than anything. someone gave me a baby starter kit for Ava and I love all their products. hey speaking of baby...you are getting close.....is anyone giving you a shower?

and I didn't get a chance to tell robbie that I thought his talk today was really great. I loved the stories and his testimony and he didn't seem nervous at all.

anyway have a great day. and you let me know about the pics if you still need them.

Tricia puts a honey product on her kids butts! ewww gross! :) Hehehe! Back off Tricia I called the baby shower first! We're playing by the dibs rules here! :) I've never tried burt's bees, but I've heard great things about them! Way to write the company... I would've probably just thrown it away upset at the waste. :)

I would be a little freaked out about my lotion going moldy, but I wouldn't have even thought to contact the company. That is awesome that they sent that to make it up to you.

I used the peach (or something like that) oil with my youngest when his cradle cap was just insane.
