goodbye gilmore girls UPDATED ... and again

well it's an end to an era. my most favorite show had it's finale tonight. i got hooked on the show during it's second season my second year in college. we didn't have tv -- no i take that back, we a tv it just wasn't hooked to anything besides the electrical outlet. my roommate was a fan and since we had no way to watch her aunt would tape them and after she got 4 on a tape she would mail it off to idaho. the day it would arrive in the mail we would all get together and close the blinds, pop up some corn and watch all four episodes straight. and we'd watch those tapes over and over again. it was heaven. the writing is fabulous. the acting is amazing. oh the banter between lorelai and luke. their chemistry is excellent (well no wonder -- they're dating in real life as well).
...
after i graduated and came back to cali i would tape them and watch them over and over again. i would not answer the phone on tuesday nights. my boyfriend knew this and would call after the show was over. then i got dvr -- what pause and rewind and save and play over and over and over and over -- i keep the episodes after i watch everything else gets erased. (i generally have 4-6 episodes saved for viewing pleasure). then they came out on dvd -- i have all 6 seasons and watch them pretty constantly. when each season would come out i would watch every episode straight through and nothing else.
but now, it's over. the series finale was tonight. after i got home from church i sat down snuggled aidan against me to eat and watched the last episode EVER. blah, it was boring. i didn't feel any closure to anything. ugh! whatever. i'm soooo dissapointed. they left everything up in the air, i felt it ended with a dot dot dot and not a period or even and exclamation point. after what i've read even the cast wasn't happy with how they ended things. kelly bishop (emily gilmore) described the finale as "disrespectful to fans". edward herrmann (richard gilmore) says, "we’ll never know, because we didn’t know it was going to be over. you don’t have the emotionally satisfying moments. after seven years, each of those storylines needs its own episode, almost." i guess they were too caught up in negotiations of whether or not they were doing next season that they forgot to write a good ending to this one. arg, it just makes me crazy.
...
the only thing that i did like was the final scene featured luke, lorelai and rory at luke's diner. it was rory’s last meal at the diner - a scene which mirrors the finale of season 1, and i felt that it brought the show full circle.

any fans out there care to comment, or offer condolences?
...
updated again: i'm not saying there should have been a wedding -- maybe no matter what they did would have made me happy, i'm not ready for it to be over yet. but i was really dissapointed with how they ended things with rory and logan. it was just out of character. the episode before logan and rory talked about factoring each other in. then he came with an ultimatum with her life all planned out for her, where to live where to work. it was just out of left field. and rory's a fighter, she wouldn't have settled him telling her it was all or nothing ... i was just dissapointed. i'm glad you liked it. i knew they would end it that way with both the girls single (how the show started). maybe i'm reading WAY too much into it. i mean it's just a show.

overall it was a good season even without Amy, i'd say when i get it on dvd to borrow. i was just dissapointed by the finale. it left everything open, i hate that.

I'm not afraid to admit it... I have every available DVD season of GG in my Blockbuster Totalaccess queue right now.

Heather and I are going to watch it from beginning to end one day... or maybe like one month.

Wow, girl, you did more reading than I did! Yes, it would have been nice to see Lorilei and Luke married but that would take another 2 seasons! Those are the slowest "meant for each other" people I've ever seen!

I was kinda pulling for Rory and Logan, too. I thought that story had lots of room to grow. But would the writers have given them marriaged life that grew together or grew apart? There's a huge culture out there that hits the road when life gets tough and they seem to write for GGs.

I think you win the "Devoted Fan" contest - Congrats! You have the cutest baby, too! Those pics are soooooo sweet! I remember that age (I just gave my 5-year-old blank paper so she could color :-)
