lost - the other woman - 4.06

overall, not my fave episode in this season, centered on juliet's story, but i felt we learned the most about ben. stunning performance.

i've heard coflicting things, people talking about ben using harper to get his message out (you know from the cell locke is keeping him in), or harper being a figment from the black smoke monster (you all know what i'm talking about). i'm leaning towards harper not actually being real, it seemed so eerie. plus those dang wispers always come around when the smoke monster shows up!!

lost - the constant - 4.05

ok ... i totally stole this image and notes from a friend's blog, what an interesting idea!!

OK as you can see there are three objects depicted, the Island, Ship and Barrier. Now I have arranged them as I see them in my head, as a barrier around the island seperating the ship from it. I believe the following:
-The time is actually the same both on and off the island, represented by the real time radio transmissions that take place over the phones.
-The time difference observed by both the inbound rocket and outbound helicopter is actually caused by the crossing of this barrier.
-The crossing of the barrier is unnoticeable to those who cross it, but actually takes hours/days in real time.
-The helicopter took a day to cross, the rocket took 30mins. This time frame may be relative to the speeds at which they impact the barrier.
...
check out what paul levinson has to say about the episode, it's very interesting - mostly about desmond time traveling.

or check out this little lesson on physics and theories on time travel ... blows my mind! plus he mentions ender's game, actually children of the mind if we want to get specific and brings up faster-than-light-travel. i love that aspect of the book. such an interesting idea!
...
ok, and go read this screencap, i love how he parallels homer's "odyssey" of odysseus and penelope with the story of desmond and penny
...
"It might not be that every person needs a Constant. Maybe it's only people who have been subjected to emf radiation and who then come into contact with freaky time shield barriers around mystery islands who need Constants. But probably not. The power of this myth is that we all need a Constant, a person or an activity or even just an idea that means so much to us that it can keep our minds from falling through any unexpected "tear in the fabric in the space time continuum." The Constant that we need to avert this disaster is the magical healing power of Hope."
...
"This was as close to a perfect episode of Lost as we could hope for. It was tight. It made sense within the parameters of the fantasy we've signed up for. The acting was art. There was one particular moment of perfect grace. 2004 Desmond suddenly is reunited with his own self in the instant that he hears Penny's voice. In that same instant, 1996 Desmond smiles, knowing that the message he worked so hard to carry had landed, that Penny remembered. In that one moment, both moments in time united and became the same moment, folding along the same wrinkle in time." -- from the above screencap link.
...
ok, i'm done, i cannot read anymore recaps! but the last link i posted and quoted from was excellent and i HIGHLY recommend it (nikki, tell tj he needs to read this) i can't wait for the next episode tomorrow, love love love LOST!

LOST S4 premier -- beginning of the end

ok, i've been meaning to write. my head is still spinning, especially since i've been reading theories and things online. holy moley!
...
jacob's cabin. did you see who was sitting in the rocking chair? did you? what the heck!!
check out this interesting theory.
-Hurley see's Charlie near the HoHo's in the 7-11. Then Jack and Hurley only get to HO in the game of horse. That makes HOHOHO in the course of the episode.

-This makes you think of Santa Claus-Santa Claus = North Pole

-Things from the show that have to do with the North Pole:

-Polar Bears

-Listening Station from end of Season 2

-Painting by Hurley tonight of an eskimo and igloo: -The snowman riddle that Desmond asks Locke in the hatch when he sees him.

-The name Kelvin, Desmonds hatch partner, is the term used to measure absolute zero temperature.
...
who are the oceanic six? we know jack, kate and hurley! who are the other 3??
...
did you see charlie's hand while hurley was in the interrogation room ... "they need you"!! just like charlie later tells him at the asylum! most assume that the "they" refers to those still on the island, could he also be talking more specifically about claire and aaron, since those are who charlie cares about the most?

for great posts about the last episode, you can also check out: paul levinson 1 & 2! amazing. i think half of why i love lost so much is all the rumors, theories, mysteries, spoilers and easter eggs!
...
or you could always check out some podcasts if you want!
...
apparently i have WAY too much time on my hands regarding lost!! i can't wait for tonight's episode!!

i'm lost

well we finally have the internet in our new house, and the dvr is up and running and is full of shows just waiting to be watched (although i've been busy trying to get the house in order that i've limited myself to only watching tv when i'm nursing aidan -- when he's asleep or happy i try to keep busy -- i'll do a post soon with some pictures of the house and the progress)
...
well i watched the season finale of lost last night. it was kinda frustrating because rob hasn't watched like the last 10 episodes and was coming in and out and asking a million questions. oh well.
...
if you haven't seen it yet, don't read past this point, spoiler alert!
...
the episode was excellent, in the first scene when jack was leading the losties from the camp to the radio tower i couldn't help myself from thinking about moses leading the children of isreal out of egypt -- and then naomi asked him what he did when he wasn't playing moses. so apparently that was the look the creators were going for. i loved it. i'm glad jack has finally accepted his role as their leader.
...
i was irritated with how the whole thing happened with charlie. i was hoping he would try to save himself, but it appeared he gave into his "fate" as desmond saw it. i know he thinks that his death somehow will insure the rescue of claire -- but i'll miss him. i'm glad he died as a hero. in the beginning of the show he was selfish and wouldn't try to help anyone but himself, now he gave his life for everyone else. what a turn around. i loved it. an interesting theory on charlie's death can be found here, she talks of the similarities to charlie's death and vaughn's "death" on alias. too bad ... from what i've read of interviews with charlie and the creators, he's DEAD. he's not coming back. he's actually looking forward to other work opportunities. maybe we'll see him in flashbacks of someone else although maybe not if they are switching the format to flashforwards, more about that later.
...
it appears mikhail (patchy) is invincible. i mean how many times has this guy been killed and then showed up again. he died when locke pushed him through the pylon and then he got speared through the chest only to swim out and show charlie the grenade before he pulled the pin. my guess is we'll see him again.
...
i was so sad when sawyer told hurley that he couldn't help and would just get in the way and kill them all. and i wanted to jump up and scream for joy when he drove in and saved the day (but i didn't because i was nursing aidan and he was almost asleep -- instead i just screamed silently and waved my hands in the air just like i didn't care). yeah -- go hurley!! i mean all the other losties go on these missions and hurley always gets left behind. i was happy to see him help out. and him talking on the walkie afterwards ... "others, come in others, we got you bastards" priceless!! i'm glad that he's given up his "i'm an unlucky guy" attitude and has figured out he's in charge of his life, not the "numbers".
...
and a shout out to sayid who killed that guy with his feet, that was awesome.
...
there has been much speculation about who was in the coffin. from the screenshot i've seen it's a man, but who we wont know at least until january. UPDATED: i think its a character we havent been introduced to. possibly someone involved with dharma. he is sooo upset when this person dies that it almost drives him to suicide, so its not just someone who isn't liked. maybe the last person who knows how to get to the island (his obi-wan, his only hope of getting back??) i dont know, just a guess.
...
here is what i think the article reads, my quesses are inbetween the brackets.
"Man found d[ead in his] downtown loft. The body of J ... antham of New York ... shortly after 4 a.m. in the ... of Grand Avenue." you can also make out something about a tower and "loud noises"
...
shauna had this interesting insight into the flashforward we saw regarding jack, "They've already set the precedent for alternate futures through Desmond's flashes, so I assume that what we saw in the flash-forward is only one possibility. Will the "universe corrects itself" aspect of the show's mythology prevent it from happening? Or is this just the beginning of many flash-forwards rather than flashbacks, and the rest of the show will be what happens to everyone after they get back?" flashforwards would put new life into the show, and could get interesting. i mean the episode was called "through the looking glass", after alice went through it her world was turned upside down, this show wont be the same when it returns after 8 months. this episode was pivotal.
...
...
well that's all i got for now. i want to watch the epsiode again. holy moley, i'm completely hooked now. i watch to buy all the seasons and watch and try to catch what i might have missed the first time. excellent show.
